As I was packing up my shop and moving to NC, a buddy of mine was opening a restaurant called “Driftwood” in South Florida. As the name would imply, he wanted to incorporate as much wood as possible into the atmosphere of his new place. As much as I wanted to stay and make EVERYTHING for his restaurant, it only made sense to take on the smaller stuff that could be easily shipped once completed. So he gave me the task of making serving boards, skewer blocks, menu holders, coasters, and check presenters.
All of these pieces were made from locally sourced maple, white oak, and even part of a tree in my backyard, that was then ebonized to match the decor that he was sourcing a little closer to home.
